Blikkiesdorp Temporary Street Studio

On the 18th July in Blikkiesdorp, a barren government built informal settlement on the outskirts of Cape Town, myself together with  Charlie Shoemaker and Asanda Kaka, set up a temporary photo studio on a dusty street. Equipped with lights and a portable photo printer, we photographed anyone who wanted formal family or individual portraits. The photo was printed there and then for free for the participant to take home.

The African Cypher

I was camera operator on this multi-award winning feature length documentary 'African Cypher' on street dance culture in South Africa.

Corner Cornwall and Hercules Street, Woodstock

Recently Mikey Saal (www.mikesaal.wordpress.com) and myself collaborated under the name "Pavement Specials" to create a free outdoor street portrait studio in the neighborhood of Woodstock, Cape Town. The concept is this...

"People over Photographs...

Pavements Specials set up a street photo studio on the corner Hercules and Cornwall street's in
Woodstock allowing families, friends and anyone walking past an opportunity to have themselves photographed for free. Tired of a greedy world where pictures of people are taken and hardly ever given, Pavement Specials equipped their outdoor studio with a portable photo printer and everyone that posed for a photograph was given a free printed copy."

Our photo studio was featured as part of the I Art Woodstock project by /a word of art .... See more about the project on http://www.i-art-sa-project.com/
